Review of our Correspondence Course:"If you missed the start of night-school this winter, you may be one of an increasing number of people looking at correspondence courses. One of the latest is TeachMe Interactive's TeachMe to SAIL - Day Skipper Edition, a fully RYA accredited shorebased course on a CD ROM. The only other materials you need are the RYA student pack and drawing instruments provided when you enrol. The CD is user friendly, with clear and concise test, still and animated diagrams, photos, video and sound clips. Short exercises are integrated with the text, along with quizzes to test how much you have learned and to indicate weak spots where more study maybe needed. There's also a useful 500 word glossary. Any time you get into difficulties you can contact your tutor by phone, fax or email or if you prefer the training forum on the dayskipper.com website to discuss the matter with other students. Completed exercises are sent back for marking and feedback, existing students prefering email for this..." PBO, December 2001 What Customers say about our courses:
I have enjoyed doing the course but its been a struggle finding the time, hence the gap for several months! My initial reason for doing the day skipper course is that I want to get the basic qualifications that will allow me to charter. I got back into dinghy sailing a few years ago but I have four young children and its not possible for us all to go out together. I have done a little yachting in the past and thought it may be a way for all of us to go sailing together. I believe I need to do the practical part and do the VHF and then I can charter. I plan on doing this early in the new year and then get some experience before taking the family out! If things work out then I would look to do the Yacht master. Eventually I would like to cross the channel and sail around North West Brittany. You can but dream!" Mark Helas "I am delighted to recommend to anybody your day skipper interactive course. I found it clear and concise, and very well presented. I had no difficulty in mastering the complex matters covered in the RYA syllabus. All the staff were most friendly and helpful." Eddie Baker "I have just received the news that I have been successful in the RYA Day Skipper Theory examination. It isn’t really news as the instruction I received from the CD and more important the guidance and support and from Ali my tutor left me in no doubt that I had mastered the subject. I found that the structure of the course allowed me to progress at my own speed and complete the course in a relatively short time. The proof of the pudding (as they say) is in the eating. Thanks for enrolling me on the Coastal Skipper course." Malcolm Bailey
"I'm delighted to have passed the Day Skipper, and I am keen to get out on the water this summer to put some of it into practice. I'd like to thank you, Austen, for your help and support. Not only have you returned my work incredibly promptly, but I've found your comments very helpful indeed - your mixture of professionalism and good humour has made the learning a pleasure." Larry Reynolds. "I have thoroughly enjoyed doing the Day Skipper programme with Austen. I have already started reading the material for the Yachtmaster course which I'm sure will be just as enjoyable as the Day Skipper". Anthony LoPinto "Excellent course, having great fun with all the family, the CD is really great. I have asked my co boat owner to contact you also, a Nigel Rowbotham, who also wants to do the course". Harry Acland "Great! Thanks for all your help and advice. I haven't replied any sooner as I've been off sailing in Turkey, putting all this theory into practice - although as there weren't any tides and precious few navigational marks, the theory seemed a bit remote at times. Anyway, thanks once again - I'll be back for the Yachtmaster's when I've gained a bit more experience". Steve Hatch "I am very happy with the progress of the course so far. John and Karen Williams have been most supportive and I have been pleased with the positive responses to the exercises. Their comments and suggestions all make for a very positive learning experience. Generally I find the CD very good, with the RYA dayskipper booklet a very useful backup. In summary: I am well pleased. Thank you." Adrian Shield "It's good using email - I like being able to learn in my own time -my tutor Rob is very helpful." Ged Langosz "I think the course material is very good, the CD ROM is excellent and I'm enjoying studying!" Alan Brennan |
